I am dying. mono sucks. a lot. and my liver is inflamed, so I can't take acetometaphin. my throat was nearly swollen shut this morning, and that I did not like. It felt like, literally, like swallowing a hot coal to swallow. It got better as the day went on, though. But it got worse again a few hours ago, and the muscle pains stated. it feels like little bugs are eating my calves and knees. and sometimes my shoulders. that sucks. but I get to lay down all day. i guess there is an upside. and kati keeps bringing me toast and gatorade. shes great. I think i've lost about 8 pounds since last wednesday or so. At least i'm not throwing up anymore, so all this inactivity should fatten me back up a bit.
don't know what i'm going to do about my classes.

The Green and Red of Mayo
I can see it still
It's soft and craggy bogland
It's tall majestic hills
Where the ocean kisses Ireland
And the waves carress it's shore
The feeling it came over me
To stay forever more
Forever more

From it's rolling coastal waters
I can see Croagh Patrick's peak
Where one Sunday every Summer
The pilgrims climb the reek
Where Saint Patrick in it's solitude
Looked down across Clew Bay
With a ringing of his bell
Called the faithful there to pray
There to pray
Take me to Clare Island
The home of Granuaile
It's waters harbour fishes
From the herring to the whale
And now I must depart it
And reality is plain
May the time not pass so slowly
Before I set sail again
Set sail again

I miss Ireland. Ok, so check this out. www.theworldfleadh.com . How nuts does that look? And, its right when we're scheduled to be in Ireland. Look at the list of people playing-
THE WATERBOYS
LA BOTTINE SOURIANTE

THE SHARON SHANNON BIG BAND
THE MICHAEL MC GOLDRICK BAND
CARLOS NUNEZ
SOLAS
MÍCHEÁL Ó SÚILLEABHÁIN & ORCHESTRA
4 MEN AND A DOG
LÚNASA
THE FRANKIE GAVIN BAND
ALISON BROWN QUARTET (& SPECIAL GUESTS)
KILA
IARLA Ó LIONÁIRD
DECLAN O ROURKE
FLOOK
CARA DILLION
JEAN MICHEL VEILLON
SEAN KEANE
BEGLEY & MURRAY
DEISEAL (reformed exclusively for TWF)
ZOE CONWAY
PAULINE SCANLON & DONOGH HENNESSY (& BAND)
JOHN SPILLANE
TÉADA
CORA & BREDA SMYTH
GRÁDA
BEOGA
DESSIE O HALLORAN
KILFENORA CÉILÍ BAND
TULLA CÉILÍ BAND
MATT CUNNINGHAM BAND
DANCE OF DESIRE
and many more to be announced

Thats an insane line up. And, there are competitions, with, apparently, 100,000 Euro (130,000 USD) in prize money. Beats the hell out of the regular fleadh. Think, if we could play there, or if not play, at least compete. That would be nuts. Apparently, this is the first year this festival is being held, and it looks like they're pulling out all the stops. All the details aren't out yet, but apparently a lot of details will be made available in march. I'm excited.

ello. I leave for wisconsin for the weekend in like 15 minutes, and I can find absolutely nothing else to do to occupy this time. didn't go to rugby practice last night, as I am sick, but walked out for the last like 5 minutes of practice, because i knew elections were going on right after practice. so, i got pulled in for those. then, in a celebratory mood due to the elections, a good three quarters of the team decided to go to the bar. myself and catheter went along as well. was reasonable fun, with only a small little fight between people who got over it rather quickly. god, i'm bored. eh, well, I leave for Ireland on december 29th, just after christmas. also, going to cancun in February for about 5 days, and staying at an all-inclusive 5 star resort that has literally everything paid for. so, free food, drinks, spas, masseuses, horseback riding, boating, drinks, and loads of other things. i'll return fat, sunburnt, and hungover. i've been sick for like a week, and i went to the 7/11 just by me here, and all hey had was nyquil. so, everytime i take my medicine, i get tired. and i take it every 4 hours. i only feel tired for like an hour, but, i keep wanting to sleep all day now. god, this will have to do.

"For a couple years I've been blaming it on lack of sleep, not enough sunshine, too much pressure from my job, an earwax build-up, low blood pressure or anything else I could think of. But now I found out the real reason. I'm tired because I'm overworked. Here's why:

The population of this country is 273 million.
140 million are retired.
That leaves 133 million to do the work.
There are 85 million in school.
Which leaves 48 million to do the work.
Of this there are 29 million employed by the federal government.
Leaving 19 million to do the work.
2.8 million are in the armed forces preoccupied with finding Osama BinLaden.
Which leaves 16.2 million to do the work.
Take from the total the 14,800,000 people! Who work for STATE and CITY
GOVERNMENTS.
And that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.
At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals.
Leaving 1,212,000 to do the work.
Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons.
That leaves just two people to do the work.

You and me.

And there you are sitting on your ass, at your computer, reading jokes.

Nice, real nice."

If my arm was a few inches longer, I could touch the canopy of the Jamba juice i live above out my window. I can clearly see the caribou coffee across the street. My window faces the intersection of maxwell street and halsted, and everything I see is either brand new, or just about to open. the "bar now open sign" is up on the place called morgans kitty corner from me. i can see the 7-11 a block away, not to mention the quiznos and a dry cleaners (where i can fix my pants). i need to work out some system with jamba juice where i bang my foot twice, they start making my favorite drink, i lower a bucket with money a few minutes later, and then i reel up. or install some sort of indoor chute. boy howdy.

I saw the most amazing thing today. I was driving my little white Village of Wheeling car around, and was coming up to a stop light. Scene was this: I was in the left lane. In the right was a motorcycle. With a midget on it. A midget with a mullet. A business in the front party in the back mullet. I, needless to say, stared. Naturally, this being a full sized Harley, it was not being piloted by the aforementioned midget, but rather, the midget was seated behind a full grown woman grasping her around the mid-section. For dear life, I'd imagine. Its little things like these that keep me sane while at work. (no pun intended)
